Malabar is a small town of about 3,000 residents living in a 13 square mile among tall oaks and pines, sometimes with cattle and horses as neighbors with its famous Yellow Dog Cafe Waterfront Restaurant. Grant-Valkaria is a town of nearly 4,000 residents and home to the popular Grant Seafood Festival and Valkaria Airport. Grant Historical House, also known as Bensen House built in 1916 can be found here. 2016 marked the 10th year anniversary in which the communities of Grant and Valkaria became a single incorporated town, mainly to preserve its ecosystem and control its growth. The famous Stick Marsh, a 6,500-acre body water with depths form 4 feet to 8 feet in some areas is located to the south and it is one of the most celebrated bass fishing locations in the country. One can find an abundance of catfish, bass, bluegill, sunfish, black crappie and many other types of fish. It was created in 1987 and opened to the public in 1991.
