Rockledge is Brevard's oldest community, dating back to 1887 and sits on 13 square miles bound by India River to the east and I95 to the west. The name "Rockledge" is attributed to the early settler Gardner S. Hardee. There are about 25,000 residents in different community neighborhoods, some in older stately homes set among tall oaks along its riverfront district. Most of the well know developments in Rockledge started in the 1950s to the 1990s such as: Virginia Park, Marlin Manor, Fairway Estates, Rockledge Country Club Estates, Golfview Estates, Kings Grant, Georgetown, Levitt Park and Woodsmere.
